Corazón a Corazón, under the sponsorship of the School Sisters of Notre Dame, serves as a catalyst for fundamental change in the community by providing individualized educational services to immigrants in South Side Chicago.

Our History
The School Sisters of Notre Dame came from a long, prosperous presence at the Academy of Our Lady at 95th and Loomis which eventually had to close due to dropping enrollment and fewer Sisters. To maintain a presence on the South Side, we spoke with the Bishop and priests and learned of the need to help Latino girls stay in school, allowing them to finish and go on to college. When we arrived to begin a program, however, the people of the area told us that their first need was to learn English so that they could help their children in school and get better jobs to support themselves and their families. The ESL program was thus begun. The After-School and Summer School programs followed in response to mothers in the ESL program who sought academic assistance for their children, year-round.
